1999 Pakistani coup d'├ętat

12th October 1999

On 12th October 1999, Pakistani army launched a coup, and took control of the country. The coup was led by General Pervez Musharraf, who soon after appointed himself as the Chief Executive of the country. On May 12th, 2000, Pakistan's 12 member Supreme Court unanimously validated the October 1999 coup and granted Musharraf executive and legislative authority for 3 years from the coup date, endorsing his governance.
