The crew of helicopter carrier HMS Ocean have released a festive video to the tune of Mariah Carey's 1994 hit All I Want for Christmas is You, with an accompanying message explaining that the crew will be back in the UK on 9 December – after 225 days, or seven and a half months, away from home.

The video, which features members of the ship's crew miming to the popular Christmas song, has had almost 40,000 views on YouTube since it was uploaded on 2 December.

HMS Ocean was initially only expected to be away 'on exercises' for 7 weeks when she left the UK in April, however her homecoming was delayed due to the escalating situation in Libya.

Throughout the deployment there have been 400 people onboard (at peak during the amphibious exercises just under 900 onboard but approx 650 during Op Ellamy), she has steamed just over 40,000 miles, burned approximately 6,000 tonnes of fuel and operated 16 different type of aircraft off the deck.

15 babies have been born during the ship's time away (fathers did get home to see mum and baby) and 5 people were sent home to attend (their own) weddings.
