Dan Jarvis MP is to become the first serving politician in over 60 years to be awarded a military honour today when he receives an MBE in recognition of his services to the Armed Forces today from the Prince of Wales.
The ex-Parachute Regiment Major will also be recognized for designing and delivering a training system teaching troops to spot tell-tale signs of improvised explosive devices.
The MBE citation for the Barnsley Central Labour MP highlighted the impact of his work, stating: 'It has been highly effective and has undoubtedly saved lives in Afghanistan.'
Military Crosses for bravery will be presented to Captain Iain Curren and Private Bryan Johnson, both from the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
