A Polish team have discovered a crashed P-40 Kittyhawk in the Western Desert in Egypt, near Wadi al-Jadid.
The P-40 is believed to have been one from 260 Squadron, involved in the First Battle of Alamein – 70 years ago this summer.
According to reports, the Kittyhawk appears to have made a crash landing but the pilot is believed to have survived the crash. The aircraft is remarkably well-preserved. The ammunition has been removed by the Egyptian Army.
