The Clock Tower which houses Big Ben is to be renamed 'The Elizabeth Tower' in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
This extraordinary tribute was backed by David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband, among others.
The Queen's great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria, is the only other monarch in British history to mark a Diamond Jubilee. A similar tribute was paid on that occasion, with the renaming of a tower on the Palace of Westminster from The King's Tower to The Victoria Tower.
The Queen is said to be touched by the honour.
