The Ministry of Defence has announced the sad news that a Royal Marine from 40 Commando Royal Marines and a soldier from 3 Medical Regiment were killed on Wednesday, 24 October.
Military officials are investigating the deaths amid confusing and conflicting reports.
A spokesman said that the two died 'from injuries sustained whilst on patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj district'.
Their families have been informed of the deaths and have asked for a period of grace before further information is released.
