Dr Anthony Seldon, head of Wellington College, has been knighted by the Queen in the annual Birthday Honours list.
Dr Seldon, the pioneering head teacher and author of Public Schools and the Great War, was one of 33 heads recognized in the Honours list.
Dr Seldon told the Telegraph:
'It's an incredible honour. There are so many people that deserve it more than me, not least all the people I work with at Wellington College and Wellington Academy. They are the real heroes.'
He will be retiring from his post at Wellington College next summer and producing an official biography of David Cameron.
