Dambuster hero Les Munro is to auction his medals and log books to raise funds for the upkeep of London's Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park.

Les flew as a pilot with 617 Squadron during the legendary raid on the Ruhr Dams, flying Lancaster W-Willie. He was awarded the DFC during his time with 617 Squadron.

As a tribute to the comrades he lost during the Second World War, Les has decided to donate the memorabilia to the auction, which will take place on 25 March.

The RAF Benevolent Fund has set up a book of gratitude to Les, to thank him for his support. Members of the public are entitled to contribute to book via www.rafbf.org.
