Breaking News: a fire has broken out in a section of the UK's first Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier which is under construction in a Rosyth construction yard in Fife.

Around 40 firefighters from 7 fire engines are tackling the blaze which happened just after 14.30 in a stairwell in a section of the 8,000-tonne hull.

No one has been hurt during the blaze, and it is hoped that the incident will not hinder the progress of the overall building programme.

The ship, which is not due to be finished until at least 2016, will be capable of deploying up to 40 Lockheed Martin F-35 aircraft.
