Warfare in News

An exciting project is – quite literally – underway beneath the Somme battlefields.
Four miles of First World War tunnels underneath the village of La Boisselle are being excavated by a team of British and French archaeologists, as reported in issue 2 of Warfare magazine (go to Issues to view).
Some of the tunnels are up to 30m below the ground, as reported in this video new clip from the BBC. Watch out for Simon Jones from the La Boisselle Project, author of Underground Warfare 1914-1918.
