Dame Vera Lynn has joined a campaign to stop scrap metal thieves who have been targeting the UK's war memorials.
The singer who has long been associated with the armed forces and has earned the nickname 'The Forces' Sweetheart' has urged government officials in the UK to get tough on the vandals who are wrecking these memorials, calling for tough penalties for anyone caught vandalising a memorial, calling such crimes 'utterly despicable'.
The War Memorials Trust have launched a campaign to protect the memorials.
