Warfare in News

Posted on Wednesday 9th November

An Oxford University history graduate has started a six-year project to tweet about the day by day events of the Second World War, as they happened, 72 years ago.

24 year old Alwyn Collinson created the project as a way of bringing the past to life and helping people to understand the events of the Second World War, using social media.

Alwyn Collinson uses eyewitness accounts from soldiers and civilians to illustrate the events of the War, keeping within the 140-character Twitter limit.

The twitter account @RealTimeWWII features up to 40 updates per day depending on the events of that day in history, and has almost 60,000 followers to date and over 800 tweets.
