Peter Berg produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane. -- (C) Universal

(Film4) said:
"An assault on reason, logic and complex characterisation, but in an enjoyable way, like a slightly less camp dramatisation of the Village People's finest ship-based sing-song."
Catherine Shoard (Guardian [UK]) said:
"If you found Transformers just a touch too subtle, this is the film for you."
Tim Robey (Daily Telegraph) said:
"It's a preposterously lunkheaded salute to American naval machismo. It's a Frankenstein's monster of a digital action spectacle, bolted together from ill-fitting parts of other movies. And it's arguably the noisiest film ever made."
Megan Lehmann (Hollywood Reporter) said:
"Impressive visual effects and Berg's epic set pieces fight against an armada of cinematic cliches and some truly awful dialogue."
Guy Lodge (Variety) said:
"Overlong and underwritten even by the standards of summer f/x extravaganzas, this Battleship will nonetheless float with many on the strength of its boyish, eager-to-please razzle-dazzle."
